These WEAVER ANTS Understand Sustainability

My pet #WeaverAnts understand sustainability. In this week's episode, we discover how the Emerald Empire, our weaver ant colony housed in an enclosed terrarium, shows signs of understanding and applying principles of #sustainability. Watch how the ants manage their resources and impact on their enclosed environment to ensure their long term survival. Hopefully, we humans can also follow suit, in the age of climate change, over population, habitat destruction, over-farming, and mass species extinctions. #ecology

Polish scientists WHO WERE looking for bats discovered a massive wood ant colony in an abandoned nuke bunker. they ended up totally sealed in due to their nest building blocking ways in and out, allowance of the sun, so ZERO access to sun, ZERO access to food and water, they resorted to cannibalism by eating the abdomens of their fellow ants and not only didn't their population decrease, but their colony actually increased as scientists went back a year or so later to check on them, Scientists found bite marks on the other ants.they found their ant trash, cemetery and all. Scientists during their last trip there put ladders in so the ants could get out and became part of the forest where they had originally came from. Shows how adaptable a lot of species truly are. NATURE YOU SCARY!

We as a species have a big ego we consider our selves superior to all other life form saying we're the most intelligent. But in reality . Ants are over there using. Resources responsibly while we destroy the environment. The ants have been here for millions of years while we just got here but we've caused. Extreme environmental damage in a few hundred years few decades even.

Two questions: I am a grown man and I have not always had interest in Ants (this started for me by looking for a no-kill way to keep wild ants out of my dogs food bowl and my home) but I've been watching these videos for a few months now. I have come to admire ants and the wild ants outside my kitchen window stay out of my home and eat the cockroaches that have been bad in my neighborhood in the past but now I tell all my neighbors to leave the ants alone for at least this reason. Would it help or be problematic in some way for me to offer my wild ant neighbors food? I was hoping feeding them could help them grow stronger with less work to get their food but don't know if offering them food would spoil their appetite for the cockroaches in the neighborhood. Also is it safe to offer them a small amount of pure organic honey?

Off course ants are much more intelligent than we think so, In my religion Islam we have a full chapter named after them, this is the meaning of the verse from Quran (Till, when they came to the valley of the ants, one of the ants said: "O ants! Enter your dwellings, lest Sulaimân (Solomon) and his hosts should crush you, while they perceive not) and verse (19. So he [Sulaimân (Solomon)] smiled, amused at her speech[1] and said: "My Lord! Grant me the power and ability that I may be grateful for Your Favours which You have bestowed on me and on my parents, and that I may do righteous good deeds that will please You, and admit me by Your Mercy among Your righteous slaves.") Verse 18 and 19 from surrah An-Naml.

Fun fact: ants have the biggest brains in relation to their body size. Their brain to body ratio is 1 to 7. Humans, meanwhile, are 1:40. To put that into perspective, if an ant was the size of a full grown man, their brains would weigh ~28 lbs. The brain of the average man weighs ~3 lbs.

An ant's kiss may hide a sneaky form of communication. ... Social insects—like ants, bees, and wasps—have long been known to pass food to one another through mouth-to-mouth exchange, a behavior known as trophallaxis. They store liquid food in “social stomachs,” or crops, from which they can regurgitate it later.

CO2 is good for the earth. carbon tax is only good for wealth redistribution and mass communist 1 world Regime implementation.... idk about you, I like my earth to be a mystery, self contained... not tinkered by ppl.. I run D&D Homebrew games and I made a crazy encounter for my friends by having them interact with a Dire Weaver Ant colony that kept the balance of a massive Forest's cycles. i think you have a very good point , they should recognize the best choice of plant and maybe the plant to the left has less tension in the leaf structure, maybe you could test the force needed to bend both, wouldn't it be amazing if they learned to prune back unsuitable shoots so as to allow growth that works better for them ....yeh right ;-)
